We got home from vacation, and man, there is a chill in the air. I immediately did what every basic girl does and went to buy pumpkins and mums. I used to be a summer girl through and through, but I can’t resist the pull of a delicious Starbucks Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew or some fall scented candles. Anyways, when families come dressed in these beautiful fall tones, it makes my photographer heart so happy. So many families ask me, “What should I wear for my fall family photos?” This is my biggest piece of advice, think three things: colors, textures, and patterns. For colors, you want to choose think warm jewel tones. Burnt oranges, mustard, navy, olive green, grey, etc. Textures: you want to incorporate some knits, linens, and other fabrics. Lastly, patterns: a little stripe here and there, a plaid or two…you can mix and match more than you’d think. Not everyone has to wear a plain shirt. Extra patterns give your images more visual interest.
I’ll write more on this topic, but for now, enjoy the Turnbull family, who crushed it with the wardrobe game.
